Which languages does it work with?

Nine languages. Seven — English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Mandarin — are fully supported: study from your own video, audio, or text. Japanese and Korean study from audio today (drop in a podcast, video, or audio file); their synthesized voice for the text on-ramp is coming next. The interface is in English for the beta, and Langcap detects the language of each file for you, so you never set it.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Once it's set up, Langcap runs entirely on your machine and your media never leaves it. Some speech models download the first time you use them; after that, you can work offline.

What can I drop in?

Video (mp4, mkv, mov), audio (mp3, m4a, wav), ebooks (epub), PDFs, plain text, and web pages or links. If a video has subtitles, it uses them on its own. An ebook opens as its chapter list so you can start with the chapter you're on.

Leave it alone and nothing leaves your machine.
